Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to FAQs.  If you have any further questions, please don't hestitate to get in touch HERE.

Most items in my shop are pre-made and ready to send and will be posted within 48 hours on weekdays (normally within 24 hours).

Lampshades are made to order and will be dispatched within 3-5 working days.  Lampshades can only be delivered to UK addresses.

At certain times of the year I am away from my desk and this will be clearly stated both on my home page and shop main page.  Orders can still be made but there will be a delay in dispatch.

Postage, via Royal Mail second class, is included.  You can pay a small surcharge at checkout to upgrade to first class.   If you have a deadline for receipt of an item, get in touch and I will let you know what is possible.

Fabrics can be purchased directly from my UK-based production partner, Fashion Formula and their production, conditions of sale and delivery times apply.

Shipping is handled by third parties and Corncrake Design cannot be held responsible for delays in delivery.  In case of an item not arriving, please contact me here to let me know.

Purchases can be returned within 14 days of arrival should you change your mind, under distance selling regulations.  Please contact me here to let me know that you are returning an item.  All items must be returned in their original condition and arrive suitable for resale.  The customer will be liable for the cost of return postage.  Refunds will be issued within 7 days of safe receipt of the returned item.

If you are unsure that a lampshade is going to match your colour scheme, please get in touch to ask for a free fabric sample before ordering.  The appearance of colours can vary on different computer screens.

I package my lampshades extremely carefully, but very occasionally damage does occur during postage.  If your lampshade is damaged on receipt, please contact me within 48 hours, including images showing the damaged lampshade and packaging.  I use a tracked and insured postal service to send lampshades and this enables me to make a claim.  A replacement shade will be sent to you as soon as possible, or a refund offered.

I am working hard to improve sustainability of my products and packaging and am constantly reviewing my systems to continue improving.

All products not made by me are produced in the UK, by trusted companies.

My greetings cards are printed on FSC certified paper.

My own fabric designs are printed digitally, which is a more sustainable method than traditional printing, using fewer resources and with less wastage.

Packaging:  I am reducing the use of plastic in my packaging, using padded envelopes only for fragile products.  I have reduced the amount of plastic in my lampshade packing, but still do use some, as it is essential that lampshades arrive safely.  I keep and recycle all suitable plastic packaging that I receive in the post, to minimise the purchase of new packaging.  The cellophane wrap on my lampshades is biodegradable.
